Formerly a gallery owner on the Isles of Scilly, Steve has been a full time artist for 25 years.
He moved to Cumbria to be in the landscape that he loves and for the painting new challenges it presents.
Generally in his work Steve looks for simplicity in a scene. Rendering enough information to give the viewer the sense of being there. To help him capture this feeling he believes it is essential to paint on the spot in front of the subject 'en pleinair', only working in the studio once he has an intimate knowledge of the subject.
He is currently represented in galleries in Cornwall, Isles of Scilly, Cumbria ,Northumberland and Seville.
Steve has exhibited regularly at the Mall Galleries with various societies including the society of Wild Life Artists, and for five consecutive years with Royal Society of Marine Artists
