James Wood

James Wood is a figurative artist living in St Mawes, working in watercolour, acrylic and oils.

Self-taught, his preferred method is to paint small studies on location, in front of the subject. These studies are often worked further in the studio into finished paintings as well as being used to provide the inspiration and information for larger works. His intention is to try and convey the beauty of the environment, its atmosphere and light effects.

James has published a series of reproductions of his paintings and also undertakes commissioned work. He has exhibited with the Royal Society of Marine Artists in London.
